Our Mission/Purpose

The PURPOSE of the OAK HILLS BAND ASSOCIATION, INC. shall be:

Section 1. To promote musical activity and a spirit of performance excellence in the Oak Hills Bands, Color Guard, and related auxiliary groups, and any related activities.

Section 2. To bring about a closer relationship between our schools and the community.

Section 3. To serve and enhance the general welfare of the Oak Hills Bands, Color Guard, and related activities.

Section 4. To assist in all musical band activities without attempting to direct the functions or policies of the school administration, its teachers, and the directors.

I am excited to continue my role as President of the Oak Hills Band Association Executive Board. The 26-27 school year will be my 7th year serving on the OHBA Board. Prior to serving as President, I served as Vice-President. I am a proud graduate of OHHS, and was part of the OHHS Marching Band way back in the 1900s. I am an elementary music teacher in Cincinnati Public Schools, and before I got married and had kids, I taught band camps and worked as a woodwind tech for 2 area marching bands during their fall seasons. My husband, Jon (who was in the Campbell County High School Band and also taught band camps and worked as a brass and visual tech) and I have 4 children. We have been OHHS Marching Band parents since 2018 when our oldest child began marching as an 8th grader. Our son, who just graduated in 2026, also began marching in 8th grade. Band and orchestra activities (in addition to choir and musical for our oldest) were the center of their high school experiences. Our 2 younger children will be in 8th grade this fall. They marched Junior Guard/GP Guard for 3 years, JV Winter Guard for one year, and will march flute and clarinet, respectively, in AE band, as well as GP guard this fall. They plan to march JV Winter Guard again this coming school year. Jon and I thoroughly enjoy watching our children participate in the marching arts, and the incredible personal growth they gain each year in addition to their growth as performers. Not only have our children made wonderful memories and wonderful friends through band and guard, we have also made wonderful friends and memories through our experiences as parent volunteers.

Hi everyone, I'm Julie Gribbell! I’m highly invested in our incredible music programs because I currently have two kids in the thick of it: Alice, a high school junior playing flute and piccolo, and Harrison, an eighth-grade percussion marcher. Watching these students grow from squeaky beginners into mature, talented young adults has been one of my favorite life experiences.

By day, I bring that same patience to Cincinnati Public Schools, where I work as a specialist at the Children’s Hospital College Hill campus. This is my 24th year in education. At this point, "Teacher Brain" is my permanent state of being, but I wouldn't trade helping these amazing kids for anything.

Hi! This is me with my son, Pax, who plays the tenor sax who is a junior. Through him, I’ve been introduced to the wonderful world of band, and I’ve truly loved watching him grow, learn, and enjoy every step of the journey. Along the way, we’ve both made great friends and shared so many special moments with the Oak Hills band students and parents. It has been an incredibly rewarding and meaningful experience for our family.

Professionally, I am a full-time manager in the photo/video department at Siby Cline. As Vice President of Fundraising and a board member for OHBA, I help support the organization in a variety of ways, including maintaining the OHBA website, creating flyers, organizing raffle baskets for events, preparing and distributing sponsor logos for trailers, shirts, and banners, and overseeing both the Spring and Fall flower fundraisers. Additionally, the summary below also applies.

This is my second year serving on the Oak Hills Band Association Board, and being the Spring Craft Fair Lead has been a wonderful opportunity to get to know the talented crafters who continue to support and cheer on our amazing students.

My son plays alto saxophone and will be a junior in the upcoming 2026–2027 season. This will be his fourth marching season. As a former high school band member myself, it has been especially rewarding to experience things from the band parent perspective and to watch our students grow in both talent and confidence while creating memories that will last a lifetime.

It is truly amazing to see their growth throughout the season, and being involved through volunteering gives you the opportunity to witness firsthand the hard work, dedication, and commitment these students put into everything they do.
